Bringing Together St. Olaf & Carleton Students
What you can present: papers, posters, lecture recitals, original compositions
Who should apply: students doing work in music history, music theory, ethnomusicology, music education, music therapy, media/sound studies, composition, sound art, music technology, American studies, cognition, and any other field in which music (broadly defined) is an object of study.
What to send us: Proposals should take the form of a 250-word abstract with identifying information (name, class year, major, college) included on a separate second page. Please indicate whether you’d be willing to present your work as a poster or as a lecture-recital, and what equipment (A/V, piano, music stands) you’ll need. Alternatively, you can submit a completed paper in lieu of the abstract.
Deadline: Monday, March 23 at 5 pm
Duration and preparation: The duration of papers and lecture recitals will be twenty minutes (with approximately ten minutes for questions). Students whose proposals are accepted will be assigned a faculty mentor to help with the process of crafting a successful presentation.
